Maddy Kroot

Post Bac

After graduating from Dartmouth in 2019 with a double major in geography and linguistics, Maddy am returning to the geography department as a Post-Baccalaureate Fellow and Teaching Assistant.  Her research explores emerging low-carbon energy landscapes in the Northeast, with a particular focus on the role of Canadian hydroelectricity. Maddy is interested in how political ecology and Science and Technology Studies (STS) can help us understand how energy transition and its impacts manifest unevenly across space. Outside of the department, Maddy is deeply involved with the Dartmouth Outing Club, particularly its work maintaining the Appalachian Trail and network of cabins: as an undergrad, she directed the Trail and Cabin Crew, served as chair of Cabin and Trail, and competed on the Woodsmen's team.
