Treva Ellison is an inter-disciplinary scholar whose research as at the intersections of trans and queer historiography, carceral geographies, and social movements in the United States. Treva’s writing appears in places such as Transgender Studies Quarterly, Feminist Wire, and Scholar and Feminist Online. Treva is currently working on their manuscript project, Towards a Politics of Perfect Disorder, which historicizes the articulation of trans and queer criminality in Los Angeles in relation to the racialization of space. Towards a Politics also traces grassroots activism around anti-trans and queer policing initiatives, including how the institutionalization of such efforts shapes the contemporary landscape of trans and queer politics in Los Angeles. Treva earned their doctorate in American Studies and Ethnicity from the University of Southern California in 2015.
