Sarah Kelly, a lecturer in geography and research associate at the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society, shared photos on Twitter of a new mural by Chilean Mapuche-Williche artist Julio Alejandro Muñoz Uribe in the works on the exterior of COVER Home Repair, a nonprofit in White River Junction, Vt.
The project aims to make energy insecurity more visible. Dartmouth students helped plan and paint the mural with volunteers from the Upper Valley, including two high school Spanish classes from Hartford and Oxbow.
Kelly and Professor Maron Greenleaf received a 2023 Arts Integration Initiative grant from the Hopkins Center and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research for the project. A public celebration of the new mural will take place on June 22 at 4 p.m.
