Aletha E. Spang

Aletha (they/them) is the GIS Specialist for the Geography Department, and has broad experience with many mapping and spatial analysis technologies. They are the lab instructor and/or teaching assistant for the department's GIS courses, manage the Rahr Lab for GIS and Cartography, and consult on faculty and student research projects. Aletha has a background in landscape architecture and biology, and is especially interested in participatory GIS, countermapping, and alternative, creative cartographies. In their free time, Aletha likes to create art, play music, and take care of their many plants.
