I am a PhD student in Abigail Neely's lab in the Ecology, Evolution, Environment and Society program. My research unpacks the roles played by non-human actors in the making of some of humanity's worst inequalities. I am particularly interested in how trees helped to make and maintain racial capitalism in Johannesburg. My previous academic work has focused on informal economies in South Africa, and I have a background in journalism, where I reported on the environment, wealth inequality, urban development and state capability.
