GIS Specialist
Biography
Grisha (he/him) is the GIS Specialist for the Geography Department, where he serves as lab instructor and teaching assistant for the department's GIS courses, manages the Rahr GIS and Cartography Laboratory, and supports faculty research and student projects. His research interests center on applying machine learning and spatial statistics to the study of natural hazards and disappeared streams (streams that have been buried or rerouted). He has also been exploring applications of generative AI and agentic research workflows in GIS research. Grisha works with the ArcGIS suite, Python, R, Arcade, and Stata, among other analysis and visualization tools. Before joining the department, he was a Geospatial Data Scientist and GIS Analyst at the Clemson Center for Geospatial Technologies.
